In bloom...

Except for this recent heat wave, this is my favorite time of the year in California. The weather is typically in the 70's during the day, so the sun really does feel like it's kissing your skin, rather than slapping it silly with cancer-producing UV rays. And it cools down to the 50's at night, letting me still snuggle into my favorite sweaters. Then there's the view of the mountains, which are less inhibited by smog than any other time of the year. And let us not forget this season marks the wrapping up of yet another year in my never-ending graduate program. But I think what I appreciate the most are the flowers. All the pretty flowers! Unfortunately, it's hot enough to fry eggs, bacon, and a side of green tomatoes on the sidewalk today, so I thought I would take a few shots of what's blooming around my apartment complex before they get too scorched. Granted, I chose the worse time of day to do so, in direct sunlight...but life's too short. Get over it. And enjoy!

The first two pictures are plants right outside of our front door. The first picture is our new potato vine (let's hope we do a better job of keeping this vine alive)!

The best part - fresh flowers for the house every day!

lovely! Daisies are my favorite, I need to scope out the neighborhood and see if any exist! (There are actually some up in the park, growing wild!) However, we should be getting snow this week.... Yeah. It's almost May already! The California girl in me packs up my winter stuff at the beginning of March. I had to unpack it 3 times before the month was over in WV... I haven't even bothered here in NY!
