Sick and tired...

...of being sick and tired. I've been lame on the blogging scene because I developed a nasty chest cold at the end of our trip and I'm STILL not over it! It started with that cotton/hollow feeling in my chest and my immediate dread of what was to come. And come it did - every symptom you can imagine. I even threw up, which I have a strict policy against. Seriously, the last time I threw up like that was around 1998. It was Ben's first time to witness me in such a state. But he was a trooper. He's the only reason I'm not still in the fetal position somewhere deep in the heart of Ecuador. Saturday was officially the longest day of my life. After leaving the lodge at 5:30 a.m., 3 flights, 2 taxis, 1 bus ride, and a ride home from LAX from our AMAZING house sitter, we finally feel asleep in our own bed around 2:30 a.m. on Sunday.

I think I got so sick because of the stress of finishing finals a week early, submitting another draft of my dissertation proposal, and leaving the country. But, I did almost the exact same thing when I went to Italy two years ago, without a hint of sickness. And I was gone for almost a month that time! Clearly, I'm getting too old for this crap. Or maybe grad school is wearing me down.

Anyway, I'm determined that today will be the day that I get better. Because I fly out tomorrow to go see Tara in UT for a few days. And I can't be sick around a pregnant lady, even though I'm pretty sure her little boy is already big enough to beat me up. The last time I was scheduled to fly out of state for a baby shower, I came down with strep throat. Perhaps my body has some aversion to baby showers...

So, if you feel so inclined, please send prayers my way, or positive thoughts, or a cure. It would be swell to be able to talk again, something I haven't done since Sunday night. I promise I'll get around to blogging about Ecuador eventually. And maybe my recent attempt to maneuver the mass chaos that is the baby registry at Babies R Us. What the heck is a boppy, anyway?!

a boppy is a glorious half circle pillow you put around yourself to lay the baby on when ou are breast feeding. Have I told you I have a baby bug lately? Hope you feel better soon!
