Captain Obvious

Recently I've been meeting with students who didn't do so hot on my last exam. One of them said to me, "I feel like you purposefully made this test hard because it's an upper division class."

Um...

Yeah.

That's the point.

and this student -- WOW. that is incredible. "i feel like you made the test hard because this class is supposed to be hard." pity points = 0.

Robin - remember our conversation about Gen Y while we were out in Cali and how EVERYBODY is changing EVERYTHING to accomodate them? I just think you need to understand the HARD situation that the student is in and just give them an easier test next time. Be Feeling and sympathize with what they're going through. OR, you could just make the student rise up (as students have had to do for eons) and actually study, and study HARD for a HARD exam.

Keep the faith my friend and make the students learn what they need to in order to be good at their job later.

Hmm, I wonder if he replayed that conversation in his mind afterwards and then slapped his forehead while saying, "DOH!"
