Celebrity Sighting Tally

Since the last few weeks have had two celebrity sightings, I thought I'd catch you all up with our running total so far:

- Bradley Whitford (Studio 60, The West Wing)
- William Russ (the dad on Boy Meets World)
- Rob Schneider
- Richard Simmons
- Will Ferrell
- Ben Harper
- Damien Rice
- Anne Lamott (author)
- Michael Gross (the dad on Family Ties)
- Meredith Baxter (the mom on Family Ties)
- Zach Braff
-Donald Faison (Turk on Scrubs)
- Neil Flynn (the janitor on Scrubs)
- Judy Reyes (Carla on Scrubs)
- Jude Law
- Tony Hale (Buster on Arrested Development and one our church elders)
- Ryan Hansen (Dick on Veronica Mars - *RIP*)
- Dante Basco (Rufio on Hook)

Phew - that's a lot! Granted, we've encountered a handful of people through Ben's connections, but a good portion have happened just around town (church events, getting ice cream, etc.) The most recent ones have been Sissy Spacek (Carrie) and David Caruso (Horatio on CSI). We saw Sissy at Hotel Cafe when we went to listen to Schuyler Fisk's set and walked by David today while visiting the Moca for a showing of Murakami's art (which, by the way, I'm still trying to wrap my mind around...http://www.moca.org/murakami/)

What can I say? Spotting celebrities, especially B celebrities, is one of my spiritual gifts. I think it may be directly correlated with how many hours I've spent watching E.

Matt Damon Does Matthew McConaughey

Ahhh...all of a sudden I find Matt Damon extremely attractive. Ben's just lucky he got to me before Matthew McConaughey-hey-hey.

Lame.

In response to a parking ticket petition, I got this letter in the mail the other day.

Raise your hand if you remember THAT law from driver's ed class. I thought so. Cordially THIS, Parking Citation Section!

One of us is pregnant!

I'll give you a hint: it's NOT me!

Congratulations to my dear friend, Tara. I'm so happy for you! I know neither of us are Catholic and you've already got an awesome sister, but I'm still declaring myself honorary aunt/godmother. Let the spoiling begin!

REV it up!

For those of you who don't know, a friend from school and church is on the American Gladiators. He came in as an alternate tonight and his name is Andy - you can't miss him: curly hair and Southern accent. I got to go to one of the tapings, so you might see me in the audience in the next few weeks...although I sincerely hope not for fear I might be doing something stupid on national television. Anyway, we went to a big party tonight at a local pub and watched the show on their big screen - SO MUCH FUN! What is it about watching people in spandex getting the crap kicked out of them? That, my friends, is what makes this country great. And apparently Japan, as well: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=edY3HaVRS_Q&eurl=http%3A%2F%2Fwww%2Ejapanprobe%2Ecom%2F%3Fp%3D2679
(I'm too tired to figure out how to post a video.)

IF YOUR LIFE WAS A MOVIE, WHAT WOULD THE SOUNDTRACK BE?

I thought this would be fun because too often I find myself pretending that I do have a life soundtrack...so, here's how it works:

1. Open your library (iTunes, Winamp, Media Player, iPod, etc.).
2. Put it on shuffle.
3. Press play.
4. For every question, type the song that's playing.
5. When you go to a new question, press the next button.

Opening Credits: Little Moments by Brad Paisley (Well, I do think little moments are the key to happiness.)

Waking Up: What If You by Joshua Radin (Favorite song to start the day.)

First Day At School: Song for You by Michael Buble (okay....)

Falling In Love: Free Ride by Nick Drake (hmmm....)

Fight Song: Winter Wonderland by Jason Mraz (snowball fight?)

Breaking Up: I like it, I love it by Tim McGraw (masochistic?)

Prom: Faithful to Me by Jennifer Knapp (odd...but whatever)

Life: Storm in a Teacup by Red Hot Chili Peppers (wow.)

Mental Breakdown: Away in a Manger by Anna Maria Mendieta (...what?!)

Driving: Days Go By by Lifehouse (that works)

Flashback: Be Here Now by Ray Lamontagne (Quit living in the past?)

Wedding: Carol of the Bells by Jim Bajor (Would be beautiful for a Christmas wedding)

Birth Of Child: Boat Drinks by Jimmy Buffett (apparently I'm NOT choosing a natural birth)

Final Battle:She's Only 18 by Red Hot Chili Peppers (what...?)

Death Scene: How Am I Supposed to Live Without You by Michael Bolton (embarrassing, yet oddly fitting - it's from my 80's hits cd - back off!)

Funeral Song: Angels Among Us by Alabama (creepy)

End Credits: Especially in Michigan by Red Hot Chili Peppers (What's with all the Peppers? I only have two cd's!)

What a test of vulnerability - showing everyone bits of your music library. As you can see, I love Christmas music and I'm a country girl at heart. Now, You try.

Hollywood Hypocrisy

Apologies to those who already heard this rant at the New Year's Eve party, but below you will find pictures I observed on the covers of two magazines while checking out at the grocery store this week.

While one girl is celebrated in a fitness magazine for having the ideal shape, the other is criticized for being "too skinny again." Well, I spy with my little eye two very similar bodies and one very mixed message. Is it any wonder females have such screwed up body images? Seriously!
