I left my heart.

Don't worry - the prison was a destination, not a consequence. Friends from Missouri, Mike and Marla, flew into Burbank on Friday and we drove up to San Francisco for a long weekend, stopping at the Three Rivers and Sequoia National Park along the way. There were many points during the trip when I was bundled up in a scarf, sweater, and beanie. In August. It was glorious.
Saturday found us mining for gold and hugging trees. I thought I would be hilariously ironic by wearing my "I heart NY" t-shirt, only to realize, in the end, I just looked like every other tourist wearing their t-shirts from their other trips. So, I fit right in with the balding middle aged man wearing his Cancun Senor Frogs tee and the nine-year-old fan of Mount Rushmore. Awesome.
Three Rivers

Gold!
Litter turned into art. Or something like that.
Danger!

Bear!

Roots of a fallen tree.

We played around in The City on Sunday and Monday, hitting all the major spots and partaking in the usual traditions: driving down the curviest road in country, getting free chocolates from Ghirardelli, singing the theme from Full House as we drove across the Golden Gate Bridge, eating delicious chili and chowder out of a bread bowl on Fisherman's Wharf, sort of riding a trolley car, trying out our best Scottish accents as we went through a tour on The Rock, eating lunch in China Town, and of course, riding the Duck.

Insane electric bus and trolley system.

With Ben as the photographer, crazy things happen.

Who let this crazy guy with a mustache be captain?!

The end.

Ok, I'm really jealous now. The trees are amazing and it looks like the city was fun too... This just makes me want to come hang out with you guys even more! We miss you! But we won't miss- even for one second- Ben's mustache when he shaves it off (and I'm praying that day comes quickly Ben!!)

Your prayers have been answered! He shaved it Monday, the last day we were there. :) But I'm sure it'll make a comeback at one point or another.

what an awesome trip! I've always wanted to go to Sequoia National Park. Loved the pics! By the way, you sort of look like you're peeing in the one where you're copping a squat in the tree :).

You were dangerously close to that bear!! And, mmmmmmmmm for the chowder in San Fransisco...
