*Excuse the long delay. Blogger and I have been fighting, and let me tell you - Blogger fights dirty. But it's all okay now. I sent flowers and a love haiku.*
About two weeks ago, my friend, Anthony, surprised his wife, Christy, with a trip out to see us. Since both of our birthdays fell within the week of their visit, there was even more good food and festivities than normal. Upon their arrival with 1/3 of their clan (that would be little AJ - the girls stayed in MO), we gave them our favorite taste of Pasadena: The Kitchen for dinner and 21 Choices for dessert. If you come out to see us, there's a good chance these two places will make the itinerary somewhere, somehow.
A few days later was my birthday, so Ben and I both took off work and we all went to the Getty, an incredible museum and garden in L.A. that has been on our t0-see list since we moved here three years ago. I don't think the weather could have been more perfect, which is saying something, since I've usually got a bone to pick with SoCal's insufferable summers. (Don't argue with me, all you Missouri "it's-not-the-heat-it's-the-humidity" people. YOU try living in 90 degree weather without an air conditioner. Then see how much you care about humidity or the lack-there-of!) It was a beautiful day full of beautiful sights (and some....er....interesting ones, too...). I'm looking forward to going back soon!

Following the Getty, we drove to Burbank and did a quick shopping sprint through Ikea before meeting up with my prayer group ladies and their significant others for dinner at BJ's, a restaurant picked solely for it's desserts. The rest of their food is great, too, but when I'm the birthday girl, we all know what the focus of the meal is going to be. It was such a fabulous evening - being surrounded by people I love and getting to share the time with the Geiser crew. I highly recommend starting your 27th year this way.

Sounds like you had a fun birthday! You've seen some great sights and visited some awesome plaeces since you've been in CA. And I have to agree, the dave-guy and I love BJ's desserts! P.S. I would have to time travel to start my 27th that way.... Maybe I'll go for the big 3-0 next!!!
